Sure, there's lots of hearses on Ebay, but only one with dual 4's sticking out of the hood and can lay 20 feet of rubber from a dead stop.

This hearse is one of the fastest hearses you'll find - and that's no exaggeration. This hearse runs in the low 14s. And if that doesn't impress you, remember - this is a 6,000 pound car. That's like asking your friend with the new Mustang GT to pull a boat behind him and do a 14 second quarter mile.

The best part about the '77 is that this body style has a real muscular stance to it. While other hot rod hearses have a nice curved cruising look, this one looks tough with it's angular lines and squared front end.

I've got receipts for just about everything on the car ($18,000 invested). I'm going to do my best to cover everything on the car. I'll describe it as best I can, so you can make the right decision. Here's the skinny:

1977 Cadillac Hearse:

Rebuilt 500 Cubic Inch Cadillac Engine, 450 Horsepower, built 8/2005

Ported/Polished Heads - benched out at 20% increase in hp

Crane Cam (I have the spec sheet)

Wieand Tunnel Ram Intake with BRAND NEW Edelbrock Performer 500CFM Carbs, custom machined intake port adapter plate from MTS, race quality linkage and Hilborn style cleaner

Mallory Ignition

Sanderson Blockhugger Headers to full dual Exhaust with two Aero Turbine mufflers and 18" Echo tubes (the tone will rattle windows at 2800 RPM)

2400 Corvette Stall Converter in refreshed Turbo 400 transmission with B&M Street Shift Kit

3.73 Auburn Locker posi rear end, professionally installed (taken from a '78 Buick, media blasted, painted and new gears installed)

Hurst automatic floor shifter with line lock/roll control installed in grip

Sony face-off CD player, separates in doors, custom built gloss-black “coffin” stereo box with two 10” Pyle subs, separates, Rockford Punch 100 and another smaller Rockford amp (I don't recall the wattage).

Neon green ground effects for a wicked look at night, and green lights under the hood (when driving at night, the opening for the tunnel ram glows green).

This is pretty typical at carshows:

Notes about the car:

Title is free and clear.

The engine was built by Automotive Machine, and they specialize in building high performance engines and are one of the most reputable shops in the region.

Most of the money I’ve spent was on the engine and drivetrain. The engine cost was right around $7,000 and the posi rear end was about $2,500.

The paint is good, but it has the typical cracks, chips and problem areas of an old paint job. There’s no dents in the car. There's small rust spots in a variety of areas all over the car, but mostly concentrated in a few areas like the lower parts of the car, mostly located inside the lower doors, an area on the hood and on the underside of the car. I’ve touched up these spots with gloss black touch up paint, and it looks fine from a foot away. The paint still shines and looks great when it's been waxed, but I won't mislead you into thinking it's in mint condition - it's definitely in need of body work. Thankfully, the dry Montana weather has kept the rust from getting worse, and I never drove this car in the rain or snow - because it's too much work to clean when it's gunked up. I kept it covered when I wasn't driving, and dusted it off when I was ready to cruise. I would wax the car in April and the shine would last just about to the end of summer, which in Montana, is around the beginning of September.

There is a rust hole on the rear bumper that I covered with a piece of aluminum (you can see it in the pictures), which looked better than leaving it exposed. Front bumper looks great with the exception of light surface scratching (no rust)

The interior is fine, no rips or tears, but the dash has a couple cracks in it. The flooring in back looks great, and the original casket rollers are still installed in the car. I was toying with the idea of a Hot Rod Funeral Coach service. Frame has been reinforced and this car could haul caskets to the cemetery - perfect for old school rodders who want to take their Last Ride in style. Good way to make some extra cash with this ride.

The line lock is installed right into the shifter knob, so it’s on your thumb when you're lighting 'em up and running through the gears - it works awesome.

There are brand-new curtains in all windows. Back area is mint condition, and includes 'Angels of Remembrance' on both sides of interior walls. Minor wear on area where caskets were loaded.

There is a 10 inch crack in the upper passenger side of the windshield that hasn’t got any worse since I bought it. The crack is in the blue tint of the windshield and is hardly noticeable and doesn’t interfere with driving. The top is in good shape, no rips or tears and it shines up easy and looks great when using the proper cleaners.

I lowered the front end of the car, and it looks like a dragster driving down the street. I can’t go to a gas station without someone checking it out or giving a complement. There are not many hotrod hearses around, and there are very few in the United States that are built like this car. It’s a great car for cruising, and can do burnouts from a standstill, and a slow roll.

I had a professional appraisal done last year (I have the paperwork) and the car appraised at $17,000. Show that to your insurance agent if you get full coverage on the car.

It’s truly one-of-a-kind, and the body needs a little love and attention to get it the rest of the way - but the most expensive stage of the game is done. And one last addition will get you into the record books - not many cars out there that can make you world famous.

I’ve taken care of this car, covered it with a car cover in a carport and I stored it in the winter months. I've babied it and treated it right. I've maintained it, changed oil regularly, brakes, shocks, etc - all the plain jane stuff is included in the reciepts.

I am more than happy to meet your transport company in my city and bring the car to them for loading. Just give me the details, and I'll be there.
